Teresa A. McGinity Managing Shareholder
Ms. McGinity has over 25 years of combined experience in Employment and Labor Law, Workers’ Compensation; and California Public Employees Retirement Law.
Ms. McGinity was previously in-house counsel in the Advice Unit at CalPERS, giving her a unique perspective on IDR/DR cases.
Ms. McGinity graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995 with a B.A. in English. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1999 and is licensed to practice before all courts within the State of California, including the Ninth Circuit.
Ms. McGinity provides in-depth review and guidance of policies and procedures and practices of public employers, throughout California, in relation to the management of disability retirements (IDR and DR) for safety officers.
She assists with all aspects of individual employee disability retirement applications and litigates cases on behalf of public employers before the Office of Administrative Hearings ("OAH"), CalPERS Board, WCAB; and in Superior Court.
Ms. McGinity enjoys educating and lecturing in all aspects of CalPERS’ Disability Retirement, Workers’ Compensation, as well as, their interaction with ADA and FMLA.
